How to Prepare Your Home for an Indoor Kids Party

Hosting a children's birthday party at home is wonderful, but it can also feel a bit overwhelming. After performing at countless home parties, I've learned exactly what helps the event run safely and smoothly without causing stress for the parents.

Here are my top tips for preparing your living space before the guests arrive:

  • Clear the Floor: Create as much open space as possible in your living room or main party area. Kids need room to sit, jump, and move around safely during the entertainment and games. Temporarily move coffee tables or fragile floor decorations into another room.

  • Protect Your Tech: This is a lifesaver—cover your TV with a tablecloth or a thick sheet! Not only does it prevent accidental scratches from flying toys or excited kids, but it also stops the big screen from becoming a distraction.

  • Secure Pets and Babies: If you have pets (dogs, cats, or even ponies!), place them comfortably in another room during the party. Loud noises and large groups of children can stress animals out. The same rule applies to very young siblings—toddlers and babies are adorable, but they naturally attract everyone's attention right in the middle of a magic trick!

Setting up your home properly makes the party better for the kids, the parents, and the entertainer. Have a wonderful celebration!
