The Party Hat Hack
A quick prep trick using a stapler and Scotch tape to keep party hats from breaking and protect kids from sharp edges.

1. Identify the weakness: Observe the thin elastic string and the weak single staple connection on a new cardboard party hat.
2. Reinforce the staple: Before the party, take a small stapler and add an extra staple directly over the elastic string to hold it firmly in place.
3. Apply Scotch tape inside: Cover the inner connection point (the string and staple) with a small piece of clear Scotch tape, pressing it flat.
4. Apply Scotch tape outside (Safety first!): Apply another piece of Scotch tape over the staple on the outside of the hat. This not only creates a super-strong bond that prevents the string from snapping, but more importantly, it covers any sharp metal edges so the kids won't get scratched!
