Smart Balloon & Decoration Tips for Kids Parties

Decorating for a child's birthday is always fun, but where and how you place those decorations can make a huge difference in how the party flows. After years of performing as Shay the Funny Clown, I’ve picked up a few insider tricks to make your decorations work for you, not against you.

Here is how to decorate smart:

  • Decorate the "Stage": Focus the majority of your decorations on the main area where the entertainer will perform or where the cake will be cut. This area naturally becomes the "stage" and will be the most photographed spot in the house!

  • Hang Them High: Hang regular balloons and banners as high as possible. This prevents excited kids from constantly jumping up to grab them during the show, and it avoids tall clowns (like me!) bumping their heads while performing.

  • The Helium Balloon Hack: If you have helium balloons, tie them together in groups rather than letting them float loose everywhere. When the party ends and it's time for the kids to go home, you can easily cut one balloon at a time to hand out as they leave. This completely avoids the classic fights over who gets more balloons!

A little planning goes a long way in making your party space perfect. Enjoy the decorating!
